“it is pure potential. Every ball or skein of yarn holds something inside it, and the great mystery of what that
might be can be almost spiritual”

Steelers Blanket

This is the pattern that I made on my spreadsheet program to help me create this blanket for my husband. I really like the look of the tunisian stitch, but I really hate connecting panels, so I prefer cropoint when I want to make something bigger.

This is the blanket shortly after I began. You can just see the facemask starting to take shape. The blanket is laid out on my king-sized bed, by the way. It is a pain in the buns to carry all of those balls of yarn, but it is worth it in the end.

Slightly further along in the process. This was a couple of weeks later.

It really irritates me that I wasn't paying attention to the way I put the blanket on the bed, but after laying out all of those balls neatly, I wasn't flipping the blanket over.

Ignore the messy dresser and focus on the progress of the blanket. At this point I was working feverishly, trying to get it done in time for our wedding. One of my friends opened her big mouth, so he found out I was working on it. It ruined the surprise, but made it easier to get it done in time.

Presenting...the finished product. It is huge and warm and I will never make another one, so he better enjoy it. I would probably be willing to make just the logo, but the helmet created too many balls of yarn hanging off the back.
